I consider this goal complete when: From college, I have written three letters to my family back home telling them how I am, how much I love and miss them, etc.

Why this goal is on my list: I love writing letters, and I’m definitely going to miss my family when I go off to college, and while I will be emailing them and such, I’d like to send them a few personal letters. Everybody likes getting something in the mail other than ads and bills =)

Additional notes: One letter counts as one sealed envelope. I could put three letters in one envelope, but that would only count as one “letter.”

053. Keep a prayer journal

I consider this goal complete when: I have kept a prayer journal consistently, writing down a prayer once a day or so, for a month.

Why this goal is on my list: I don’t pray nearly enough, and soon, when I go off to college, my religion is going to be completely mine. My teachers aren’t going to be there to enforce things, and so I want to get myself more into the habit of praying. I’m good at writing, and that’s comfortable for me, so it seems it would be easier to write prayers than speak them out loud.

Additional notes: I can use that journal with the verses in it.

I consider this goal complete when: I have filled a journal with single sentence (or six word) entries.

Why this goal is on my list: It would be a challenge to simplify my thoughts down into a concise short statement, but sometimes that’s all that needs said. It would be an interesting artistic exercise.

Additional notes: I think I’d like to use the little red journal.

I consider this goal complete when:  I have tried ten new things in one of my journals. New being something I haven’t necessarily done before, a new technique or style or something. Something new.

Why this goal is on my list: Sometimes I get stuck in a rut with my journaling, which is one reason why I don’t journal more, perhaps. So I’d like to try some new things, make it fun and fresh again, you know how I do!

Additional notes: List of potential things to try here.

I consider this goal complete when: I have finished the list of Things That Make Me Happy.

Why this goal is on my list: I like this list and how introspective I have to get to think of all these things. It’s a way to simplify life, cut down to less than the basics and what it really is that I love.

Additional notes: The list can be found here.

030. Write thirty short stories

I consider this goal complete when: I have completely written thirty short stories. As in, they aren’t just halfway done. It’s acceptable if they need a bit of editing though.

Why this goal is on my list: I don’t write enough, I certainly don’t write short stories enough. I’m good at them. I can get better. So. This is a goal.

Additional notes: None

I consider this goal complete when: I have set aside an amount of days that I will journal for, and I have journaled during every day I had set aside.

Why this goal is on my list: I don’t journal nearly enough anymore, and I think this would be a good experiment to see if I could journal every day, at least for a while. And it might get me addicted again to journaling so I’d journal more, if not every day.

Additional notes: This is not a “journal 1001 times” goal. This is “journal every day for a month” or something along those lines. The time amount just hasn’t been decided yet. Making things clear.
